Nasceu em Wuhan, na China, em 1987. Trabalha como cineasta e produtora em Chicago, nos EUA. Fez sua estreia na direção de longas com "Out of Focus" (2014). Realizou também os premiados longas-metragens "Another Year" (2016), melhor filme no Visions du Réel, e "Present.Perfect" (2019), vencedor do Tigre de melhor filme no Festival de Roterdã.
