Nasceu em Teerã, Irã, em 1982. Estudou cinema e completou seu curso em oficinas ministradas por Abbas Kiarostami. Depois de dirigir curtas e documentários, fez seu primeiro longa-metragem, "For a Rainy Day", em 2015. "O Gafanhoto" é seu segundo longa-metragem.
