Nasceu em 1971 em Kerman, Irã. Estudou artes visuais e plásticas na Universidade de Arte de Teerã. Dirigiu os curtas "Back Vocal" (2002) e "Off Beat" (2003), nos quais questiona a atual situação da arte e da juventude no Irã. Participou em diversas funções em filmes de diretores iranianos como Samira Makhmalbaf ("O Quadro Negro", 2000, 24ª Mostra), Mohsen Makhmalbaf ("A Caminho de Kandahar", 2001, 25ª Mostra) e Siddiq Barmak ("Osama", 2003, 27ª Mostra). Em 2011, foi proibido de sair do país pelo governo iraniano ao tentar embarcar para apresentar "Isso Não é um Filme" na França e no Festival de Toronto.
He was born in 1971 in Kerman, Iran. He graduated in visual arts and handicraft at the University of Art in Tehran. He directed the short films "Back Vocal" (2002) and "Off Beat" (2003), in which he shows his personal inquiry and thinking for the actual situation of art, youth, and gender in Iran. He took part in films produced by famous Iranian names, like Samira Makhmalbaf ("Blackboards", 2000, 24th Mostra), Mohsen Makhmalbaf ("Kandahar", 2001, 25th Mostra), and Siddiq Barmak ("Osama", 2003, 27th Mostra). In 2011, he was forbidden by the Iranian government to leave the country for presenting "This Is Not a Film" in France and at the Toronto Film Festival.
