Nasceu em Munique, Alemanha, em 1942. É um dos maiores nomes do Novo Cinema Alemão. Em 1968, realizou seu primeiro filme, "Sinais de Vida". Desde então, produziu, escreveu e dirigiu mais de 40 filmes. Além de escritor e cineasta, Herzog é também diretor de teatro, tendo realizado diversas óperas e peças. Dirigiu, entre outros, "O Enigma de Kaspar Hauser" (1977, 1ª Mostra), "Stroszeck" (1978, 2ª Mostra), "O País Onde Sonham as Formigas Verdes" (1984, 9ª Mostra), "Meu Melhor Inimigo" (1999, 23ª Mostra), "Além do Azul Selvagem" (2005, 29ª Mostra), "Vício Frenético" (2009, 33ª Mostra) e "Caverna dos Sonhos Esquecidos" (2010, 35ª Mostra).
Born in Munich, Germany, in 1942. Herzog is one of the biggest exponents of the New German Cinema. In 1968, he directed his first movie, "Signs of Life". Since then, he has produced, directed and written more than 40 films. Besides being a writer and author, Herzog is also a stage director, having realized several operas and plays. Amongst his films are "Kaspar Hauser" (1977, selection of 1st Mostra), "Stroszek" (1978, 2nd Mostra), "Where the Green Ants Dream" (1984, 9th Mostra), "My Best Friend" (1999, 23rd Mostra), "The Wild Blue Yonder" (2005, 29th Mostra), "Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans" (2009, 33rd Mostra) and "Cave of Forgotten Dreams" (2010, 35th Mostra).
