Nasceu em Coimbra, Portugal, em 1970. Em 1994, entrou para a Escola Superior de Teatro e Cinema, em Lisboa. Mudou-se para a Alemanha no ano de 1996 para estudar na Academia Alemã de Cinema e Televisão de Berlim (DFFB). Dirigiu filmes como o média “Respirar (Debaixo d’Água)” (2000), o curta “Deus Não Quis” (2007) e os longas- metragens “Esquece Tudo o que Eu Te Disse” (2002), “Embargo” (2010, 34ª Mostra), “Pedro e Inês: o Amor Não Descansa” (2018, 42ª Mostra) e “A Bela América” (2023, 47ª Mostra). Seus filmes foram exibidos em festivais como Cannes, Roterdã, Karlovy Vary, Montreal e Tallinn Black Nights. Naturalizado brasileiro, reside entre o Brasil e Portugal dirigindo em conjunto com Tathiani Sacilotto a produtora Persona Non Grata Pictures que está sediada em ambos os países.

He directed films such as the medium-length “Breathing (Under Water)” (2000), the short “It Wasn’t God’s Will” (2007), and the features “Forget Everything That I Told You” (2002), “Embargo” (2010, 34th Mostra), “Pedro and Inês” (2018, 42nd Mostra), and “A Bela América” (2023, 47th Mostra). His films have been screened at festivals including Cannes, Rotterdam, Karlovy Vary, Montreal, and Tallinn Black Nights. A naturalized Brazilian, he lives between Brazil and Portugal, where he co-runs the production company Persona Non Grata Pictures with Tathiani Sacilotto.
