Nasceu em 1959 em Bandar Anzali, no norte do Irã. Graduou-se no College of Art e tem uma extensa lista de curta-metragens no currículo, alguns dos quais premiados em festivais de seu país de origem e no Oberhausen International Short Film. "Aviões de Papel" é seu primeiro longa-metragem.
