Nasceu em Rimini, na Itália, em 1920. Aos dez anos saiu de casa para trabalhar no circo do palhaço Pierino. Durante a guerra, percorreu o país com um grupo de teatro ambulante. Em Roma, trabalhou para revistas em quadrinhos e de humor, como a Marc Aurelio, onde desenhou e traduziu os mais célebres autores norte-americanos. Também trabalhou para o rádio, onde conheceu Giulietta Masina, com quem se casou em 1943. Nesse mesmo ano, Roberto Rossellini o convidou para ser assistente no filme "Roma, Cidade Aberta" (29ª Mostra). Dirigiu obras como "A Estrada da Vida" (1954), "A Doce Vida" (1960, 35ª Mostra), "Os Palhaços" (1970), "Roma de Fellini" (1972), "Amarcord" (1973, 35ª Mostra), "Ensaio de Orquestra" (1978), "E la Nave Va" (1983), "Ginger e Fred" (1986, 10ª Mostra) e "Entrevista" (1987, 13ª Mostra). Fellini morreu em Roma em 1993, aos 73 anos.

In Rome, he worked for comic books and humor magazines such as "Marc Aurelio," where he drew and translated some of the most celebrated American authors. He also worked for radio, where he met Giulietta Masina, whom he married in 1943. That same year, Roberto Rossellini invited him to be assistant on "Rome, Open City" (29th Mostra). He directed films such as "La Strada" (1954), "La Dolce Vita" (1960, 35th Mostra), "The Clowns" (1970), "Fellini’s Roma" (1972), "Amarcord" (1973, 35th Mostra), "Orchestra Rehearsal" (1978), "And the Ship Sails On" (1983), "Ginger and Fred" (1986, 10th Mostra) and "Fellini’s Intervista" (1987, 13th Mostra). Fellini died in Rome in 1993 at the age of 73.
