Nasceu em 1961 em Pireus, na Grécia. Estudou história da arte, design gráfico, cinema e fotografia na Inglaterra. Estreou em 1982 com o curta-metragem Suzie’s Walk, seguido por diversos documentários, notadamente sobre teatro, como Medea Material (1988), Quartet (1993) e Surreal Eros (1996), peça escrita e dirigida por ela. Sua primeira direção de longa foi em 1991, com A Trip to Australia. Também realizou Dancing Soul (1999) e Comedy Nights (2001).
