Nasceu em 1950. Imigrou para a Bélgica em 1970, onde estudou direção de teatro e televisão no Instituto Nacional Superior de Artes do Espetáculo. Trabalhou na TV belga antes de começar a dirigir os próprios filmes. Estreou na direção com “A Memória Fértil”, em 1980, seguindo na carreira que hoje já soma dez títulos, incluindo “Núpcias na Galileia” (1987), sua obra mais famosa. É considerado o primeiro diretor palestino a produzir e a lançar um longa-metragem.

Khleifi worked on Belgian TV before starting to direct his own films. His directorial debut comes with “Fertile Memory”, 1980, in a career that now has ten titles, including “Wedding in Galilee” (1987), his greatest triumph in recognition. He is considered the first Palestinian director to produce and release a feature film.
