Nasceu no Irã em 1967. Fugiu para o Reino Unido em 1981, durante a guerra entre Irã e Iraque. Dez anos depois, formou-se em cinema e fotografia em Londres e dirigiu o curta-metragem "In Exile" (1991). Mudou-se para Paris nos anos 1990 e trabalhou como assistente de produção no filme "Os Amantes da Pont Neuf" (1991), de Leos Carax. Dirigiu os longas-metragens "A Quinta Estação" (1997, 21ª Mostra), "Separados pelo Inverno" (2006, 30ª Mostra) e "O Caçador" (2010, 34ª Mostra), além do documentário "Abel Ferrara: Not Guilty" (2003), episódio da série de TV "Cinéma de Notre Temps".
Born in Iran in 1967. He fled and moved to the United Kingdom during the war between Iran and Iraq, in 1981. Ten years later, he graduated in film and photography in London and directed his first short film "In Exile" (1991). Moved to Paris in the 1990s and worked as an assistant production manager on the film "The Lovers on the Bridge" (1991), by Leos Carax. Directed the features "The Fifth Season" (1997, 21st Mostra), "It’s Winter" (2006, 30th Mostra) and "The Hunter" (2010, 34th Mostra), as well as the documentary "Abel Ferrara: Not Guilty" (2003), an episode of the TV series "Cinéma de Notre Temps".
