Nasceu em Baranovitchi, Bielorrússia, antiga União Soviética, em 1964. Dirigiu, entre outros, os documentários "A Colônia" (2001) e "Paisagem" (2003) e as ficções "Minha Felicidade" (2010) e "Na Neblina" (2012), todos exibidos em uma retrospectiva de sua obra na 36ª Mostra. Fez parte do júri internacional da 37ª Mostra. Em 2018, ganhou o prêmio de direção da mostra Um Certo Olhar do Festival de Cannes com o filme "Donbass" (2018).
Born in Baranovitchi in 1964, while Byelorussia was still part of the Soviet Union. Amongst his films are the documentary features "The Settlement" (2001) and "Landscape" (2005); and the fictional features "My Joy" (2010) and "In The Fog" (2012), all shown in a retrospective of his work at the 36th Mostra. He was a member of the International Jury of the 37th Mostra. In 2018, he won the director’s award in the Un Certain Regard section at the Cannes Film Festival with the movie "Donbass" (2018).
