Ela nasceu em 30 de outubro de 1968 em Almaty, no Cazaquistão. Em 1991, formou-se em Jornalismo na Universidade Estatal do país. Desde 1993, trabalha em publicidade como diretora e produtora. Em 1996, foi produtora-executiva do longa-metragem Last Holiday (prêmio máximo no festival de Tokyo e grande prêmio no festival de Rotterdam) e, em 2001, de Zhilama (prêmio especial no festival Kinoshock, na Rússia). Em Karoy, estréia como diretora e roteirista de longa-metragem.
She was born on 30th October 1968 in Almaty, Kazakhstan. In 1991 she graduated in Journalism at the Kazakh State University. Since 1993 she works in Advertising as a director and producer. In 1996 she executive-produced the feature film Last Holiday (Golden Prize at Tokyo International Film Festival, and Grand Prix at the Rotterdam IFF), and in 2001 the feature film Zhilama (Special Prize at Kinoshock IFF, Russia). With Karoy, she debuted on feature film as a director and scriptwriter.
