Nasceu em Nazaré em 1961. Depois de estudar e trabalhar como engenheiro aeronáutico na Holanda, produziu o longa "Toque de Recolher" (1994, 18ª Mostra), de Rashid Masharawi. Dirigiu os filmes "Rana`s Wedding" (2002), "Paradise Now" (2005, 29ª Mostra), que venceu o Globo de Ouro de melhor filme estrangeiro e concorreu ao Oscar, "Entrega de Risco" (2011) e "Omar" (2013, 37ª Mostra), premiado na seção Um Certo Olhar do Festival de Cannes.
Born in Nazareth in 1961. After studying and working as an aeronautical engineer in the Netherlands, he produced the feature film "Curfew" (1994, 18th Mostra), directed by Rashid Masharawi. He directed "Rana`s Wedding" (2002), "Paradise Now" (2005, 29th Mostra), which won the Golden Globe for best foreign language film and was nominated for an Academy Award, "The Courier" (2011) and "Omar" (2013, 37th Mostra), awarded at the Un Certain Regard section of the Cannes Film Festival.
