Nasceu na Tunísia em 1976. Estudou no Instituto Superior de Estudos Comerciais, em Tunis, e comunicação audiovisual na Universidade de Valenciennes, na França. Dirigiu, entre outros, os curtas “Romantisme, Deux Comprimés Matin et Soir” (2004), “Mouja” (2008) e “Selma” (2014). A estreia de Attia na direção de longas, “A Amante” (2016), venceu o prêmio de melhor primeiro filme no Festival de Berlim e foi exibido na 40ª Mostra. Também dirigiu “Meu Querido Filho” (2018, 42ª Mostra), apresentado no Festival de Cannes.

He directed, among others, the short movies “Romantisme, Deux Comprimés Matin et Soir” (2004), “Mouja” (2008) and “Selma” (2014). “Hedi” (2016), his debut feature film, won the best first feature award at Berlin International Film Festival and was exhibited at the 40th Mostra. He also made “Dear Son” (2018, 42nd Mostra), screened at the Cannes Film Festival.
