Nasceu no Irã em 1971 e mora na Itália. Criou e dirigiu vários curtas-metragens e escreveu roteiros para o cinema e a televisão. Estreou na direção de longas-metragens com "The Forbidden Chapter" (2005). "As Flores de Kirkuk" é seu segundo longa-metragem.
