Born in Huesca, Spain, in 1932. He began his career as a feature film director in 1959 with "Los Golfos". His first major success was "The Hunt" (1966), awarded at the Berlin Film Festival. He directed acclaimed works such as "The Garden of Delights" (1970) and "Anna and the Wolves" (1973), both presented at Cannes, as well as "Cría Cuervos" (1976), winner of the Grand Prix at Cannes, and "Deprisa, Deprisa" (1981), Golden Bear winner in Berlin. Mostra has presented several of his films, including "Blood Wedding" (1981, 5th Mostra), "Sweet Hours" (1981, 6th Mostra), "Sevillanas" (1992, 16th Mostra), and "The Seventh Day" (2004, 29th Mostra).
