Born in Salamanca, in 1941. He studied Law, Sociology, and Film Direction in Madrid. He wrote children`s books before working as a screenwriter and director of series for Spanish television. He released his first feature film in 1975. He also directed the play "Kiss of the Spider Woman", by Puig. "The Trout" (1977), his dark comedy, was a highlight of the 2nd Mostra (1978) program. "The Flight of the Dove" (1989) is his fourteenth feature film.

"El Vuelo de la Paloma" (1989) é seu décimo quarto longa-metragem.
