Comrade Kim Yong Mi is a 28-year-old coal miner who lives with her father and grandmother in the North Korean countryside. During her youth, Kim often dreamed of becoming an acrobat, a dream supported by her mother. After her mother’s death, her father insisted on coal mining as a future. Kim’s love for acrobats, however, never goes away. When she travels to Pyongyang to work at the construction site for a year, the first thing she does is visiting the circus, where the opportunity to live her dream arrives.
This is the first Western-financed feature film made entirely in North Korea.
A Camarada Kim Yong Mi é uma moça de 28 anos que trabalha numa mina de carvão e vive com o pai e a avó no interior da Coréia do Norte. Durante a infância, Kim sonhava em ser acrobata, um sonho incentivado por sua mãe. Após a morte da mãe, seu pai insiste que seu futuro é nas minas de carvão. Mas a paixão de Kim pelas acrobacias nunca termina. Quando ela viaja a Pyongyang para trabalhar numa construção durante um ano, a primeira coisa que faz é visitar o circo, onde surge a oportunidade de viver seu sonho.
Este é o primeiro filme totalmente rodado na Coréia do Norte com financiamento de outros países.
