Written and directed by Dariush Mehrjui, The Lady was seven years on a shelf (it was produced in 1992 and launched only in 1999). Banoo is the name of the protagonist, a woman who accidentally discovers that her husband has another woman. As from this discovery, she sees her life and her character as completely changed, all of which coincides with urban and social changes in the region where she lives. This is the story of a woman in search of new definitions, that will clarify her role in family and in society.`The film explores the individual processes for a woman, her passage from one level of unconscious to another, the way in which she perceives that, to be reborn, she must first die, just as a seed that must be completely buried to be reborn`, says the director. Banoo has been part of over 20 international film festivals.

Banoo já participou de mais de 20 festivais internacionais de cinema.
