A drama that discusses the transformations caused by war within the family unit. During World War II, a young newlywed learns to live alone when her husband is sent to the battlefronts. She gives birth alone and does everything she can to raise her daughter, who becomes her main reason for living. When her husband returns, she realizes she must return to her old role as a wife and housewife, resuming the order of things as if nothing had happened. She cannot. In 1950, ill and unhappy, she attempts suicide but is saved by her daughter.
