In 2019, the night in Hong Kong was still cloaked in mesmerizing beauty, but the landscape of everyday life was gradually changing. Perambulating the streets of Causeway Bay, Tsai Ming-Liang documented the city’s rhythm and ambience. All the while, an old song lingered in his mind, “The beautiful night is slipping away. I hate to see you go. Why must our bliss end so soon? Why must we part when we`ve only just begun?”.
Presented at the Venice International Film Festival.
Em 2019, a noite em Hong Kong ainda estava envolta por uma beleza impressionante, mas a paisagem cotidiana mudava gradualmente. Perambulando pelas ruas de Causeway Bay, Tsai Ming-Liang documentou o ritmo e a atmosfera da cidade. Enquanto isso, uma música antiga lhe vinha à mente: "A bela noite está se esvaindo. Detesto te ver partir. Por que a nossa felicidade precisa acabar tão cedo? Por que precisamos nos separar, se acabamos de começar?".
