Acompanhamos a história de três irmãos: dois gêmeos de oito anos e o primogênito, um garoto de 12. Eles são criados de forma muito rígida pelo pai, um homem orgulhoso e arrogante que está passando por uma crise financeira e problemas pessoais. Após o difícil divórcio dos pais —e o fim de um casamento de 15 anos—, as crianças se veem intimidadas e mantidas afastadas da mãe, enquanto cuidam da casa e tentam conseguir viver com alguma dignidade.
