Comédia ambientada em Saint-Tropez, na boate "A Gaiola das Loucas", famosa por seus shows de transformistas. Renato, gerente do local, vive em um apartamento no andar superior com seu companheiro Albin, que é a estrela dos espetáculos. Um dia, Laurent, filho de Renato, comunica ao pai que vai se casar com a filha do secretário da União da Ordem Moral. Os problemas começam quando os pais da moça decidem conhecer a família do futuro genro. Desesperado, Laurent pede ao pai que mude a decoração da casa, tirando todos os objetos eróticos, e se livre de Albin. A partir daí, as confusões são inevitáveis. Michel Serrault ganhou o César de melhor ator por seu excelente trabalho no papel de Albin.
A comedy set in Saint-Tropez, at the nightclub "La Cage aux Folles", famous for its drag shows. Renato, the manager of the place, lives in an apartment on the upper floor with his companion Albin, who is the star of the shows. One day, Laurent, Renato`s son, informs his father that he is going to marry the daughter of the secretary of the Union for Moral Order. Problems begin when the girl`s parents decide to meet the family of their future son-in-law. Desperate, Laurent asks his father to change the house decoration, removing all erotic objects, and get rid of Albin. From then on, the confusions are inevitable. Michel Serrault won the César for best actor for his excellent work in the role of Albin.
