O drama real de quatro jovens ingleses de origem paquistanesa, moradores da cidade de Tripton, Inglaterra. Confundidos com terroristas, eles são arbitrariamente presos na base naval de Guantanamo, em Cuba. Em 2001, o jovem Asif viaja à terra natal dos pais para conhecer sua noiva, levando consigo os amigos Ruhel, Shafiq e Monir. Atendendo ao apelo de um líder muçulmano local, eles partem como voluntários para o Afeganistão. Mas não conseguem retornar e são capturados pelas forças aliadas. Encarcerados em Guantanamo durante dois anos e meio, passam por toda sorte de tortura e humilhação. Com locações reais no Paquistão e no Afeganistão, as cenas ambientadas em Guantanamo foram rodadas no Irã. The real drama for four young Englishmen of Pakistani origin, living in the town of Tripton, England. They were mistaken for terrorists and were arbitrarily imprisoned in the Guantanamo naval base in Cuba. In 2001, young Asif travels to his parents? native land to meet his bride-to-be, taking with him his friends Ruhel, Shafiq, and Monir. In answer to an appeal from a local Moslem leader, they leave for Afghanistan as volunteers. But they cannot make it back and are captured by allied forces. They are imprisoned in Guantanamo for two years and a half and endure every sort of torture and humiliation. With real locations in Pakistan and in Afghanistan, the scenes set in Guantanamo were filmed in Iran. The film explores the language of "docudrama", on the boundaries between the documentary and the dramatic recreation. The film was awarded the Silver Bear for Directing at the 2006 Berlin Film Festival.
