Sinopse
A história de Lulu, 35 anos, irmã do músico Hermann Simon. Em aproximadamente quarenta segmentos, o filme revela sua procura pelo que chamava de "velho futuro de sua infância". Ao mesmo tempo, em cada segmento, o filme esboça vidas e sonhos de mulheres do século passado. Os fantasmas evocados por Lulu aparecem de fato. Surgem cenas esquecidas de guerra, envolvendo o pai e os irmãos; cenas de incidentes absurdos em parques; visitas à fazenda da avó Maria; ou Hermann, ainda garoto, de calças curtas, conhecendo a beleza do primeiro amor com Klärchen. The story of Lulu, age 35, sister of musician Hermann Simon. In close on forty segments, the film shows his search for what he describes as "the old future of his childhood". Concomitantly, in each segment, the film outlines lives and dreams of women in the last century. The ghosts evoked by Lulu do, in fact, appear. Forgotten war scenes, involving father and brothers and sisters; scenes of absurd incidents in parks; visits to Grandma Maria?s farm; or Hermann, still as a child, in short pants, introduced to the beauty of first love with Klärchen. Lulu?s discoveries are inebriating. There are funny, wild, romantic and painful scenes. When he was a baby with curly hair, Lulu was carried about in a perambulator, in Hermann?s arms, or in a rattletrap of a car. When Lulu finally finds his way, leaving aside a world of dreams and returning to reality, the real world is no longer the same. The film was co-produced, photographed, and edited by the filmmaker?s son Edgar Reitz, Christian.
