Nasceu em 1944. Atriz britânica e filha mais velha de Charles Chaplin e Oona O’Neill, tinha oito anos quando sua família se mudou dos Estados Unidos para a Suíça. Foi vista nas telas pela primeira vez quando o pai a incluiu no filme Luzes da Ribalta (1952). Seu primeiro papel creditado foi em O Preço de um Resgate (1965), de Jacques Deray, e a fama internacional veio com Doutor Jivago (1965), de David Lean. Desenvolveu uma importante colaboração com o espanhol Carlos Saura. Trabalhou em mais de 140 filmes e produções para a televisão. Em 2014, recebeu o Prêmio Humanidade na 38ª Mostra.

She was first seen on the screen when her father included her in the film Limelight (1952). Her first credited role was in Crime on a Summer Morning (1965), by Jacques Deray, and she was boosted to fame in 1965 with Doctor Zhivago (1965), by David Lean. Chaplin developed an important collaboration with Spanish director Carlos Saura. She has acted in more than 140 films and TV productions. In 2014, she received the Humanity Award at the 38th Mostra.
