Nasceu na França em 1978. Começou a trabalhar em 1997 na MK2, companhia francesa que produz, distribui, vende e exibe filmes independentes, criada por Marin Karmitz, seu pai. Nathanaël foi nomeado diretor-gerente do grupo em 2005. Distribuiu mais de 60 filmes, incluindo Elefante (2003, 27ª Mostra), de Gus van Sant, e Aquário (2009, 33ª Mostra), de Andrea Arnold. Produced films such as Summers Hours (2008, 32nd Mostra), by Olivier Assayas, Certified Copy (2010, 34th Mostra), by Abbas Kiarostami, Black Venus (2010, 34th Mostra), by Abdellatif Kechiche, On the Road (2012), by Walter Salles, and Lawrence Anyways (2012, 36th Mostra), by Xavier Dolan. He also directed the short movie l’Homme Télé, in 1992. A selection of MK2’s works was shown in a retrospective at the 38th Mostra, in 2014.
