Nasceu em Lisboa, em uma família cabo-verdiana, e foi criada na Suíça. É diretora do longa-metragem “Hanami” (2024), vencedor do prêmio de melhor direção para realizadores estreantes e de uma menção especial na competição de primeiros filmes em Locarno, de melhor filme na Competição Nacional do IndieLisboa, e do prêmio do júri de melhor longa-metragem de ficção na 48ª Mostra. O filme também foi exibido e premiado em diversos festivais internacionais, entre eles Chicago, Palm Springs, Festival Panafricano de Cinema e Televisão de Ouagadougou (FESPACO), Gotemburgo e no BFI London Film Festival. Em 2025, a cineasta foi convidada para a Residência Ingmar Bergman, na Suécia, e “Hanami” integrou a retrospectiva L.A. Rebellion: Then and Now, no Lincoln Center, em Nova York. Seus filmes exploram temas como identidade, infância, memória e herança diaspórica.
Born in Lisbon to a Cape Verdean family and raised in Switzerland. She is the director of “Hanami” (2024), winner of the best emerging director award and a special mention in the first feature competition at Locarno, best film in the National Competition of IndieLisboa, and the jury prize for best feature film at the 48th Mostra. The film was also presented and awarded at several international film festivals, including Chicago, Palm Springs, Pan-African Film and Television Festival of Ouagadougou (FESPACO), Göteborg and BFI London Film Festival. In 2025, she was invited to the Ingmar Bergman Residency in Sweden, and “Hanami” was included in the retrospective L.A. Rebellion: Then and Now at the Lincoln Center in New York. Her films explore themes such as identity, childhood, memory, and diasporic heritage.
