Escrito e dirigido por Dariush Mehrjui, A Dama ficou sete anos na prateleira (foi produzido em 1992 e lançado apenas em 1999). Banoo é o nome da protagonista, uma mulher que acidentalmente descobre que seu marido tem outra mulher. A partir dessa descoberta, ela vê sua vida e caráter transformados totalmente, o que coincide com transformações urbanísticas e sociais na região onde mora. Trata-se da história de uma mulher em busca de novas definições, que esclareçam seu papel na família e na sociedade. `O filme explora os processos individuais de uma mulher, sua passagem de um nível de inconsciência para outro, a maneira como percebe que para renascer, ela precisa morrer, assim como uma semente, que precisa ser totalmente enterrada para renascer`, disse o diretor. Banoo já participou de mais de 20 festivais internacionais de cinema.
Written and directed by Dariush Mehrjui, The Lady was seven years on a shelf (it was produced in 1992 and launched only in 1999). Banoo is the name of the protagonist, a woman who accidentally discovers that her husband has another woman. As from this discovery, she sees her life and her character as completely changed, all of which coincides with urban and social changes in the region where she lives. This is the story of a woman in search of new definitions, that will clarify her role in family and in society.`The film explores the individual processes for a woman, her passage from one level of unconscious to another, the way in which she perceives that, to be reborn, she must first die, just as a seed that must be completely buried to be reborn`, says the director. Banoo has been part of over 20 international film festivals.
