Comédia de erros, em que um seqüestro funciona como ajuste de contas de uma mulher com seu passado. Toda a ação acontece na pequena cidade de Ontário, onde Joey, uma jovem desempregada, toma uma atitude drástica para conseguir dinheiro: seqüestra a filha do dono de uma clínica de auto-ajuda. Ela conta com o auxílio de dois homens, mas acaba dando um golpe em seus cúmplices e foge com a vítima. Trancada num porão com a menina, ela desenvolve uma inesperada relação com sua vítima, revelando ser sua verdadeira mãe. A partir disso, Joey precisa convencer a menina de que está dizendo a verdade e ainda se defender da fúria dos companheiros traídos e do ex-marido, que a mandou embora há 12 anos. Um policial investiga o crime. Ele sabe que nada aconteceu por acidente e que todos têm a sua parcela de culpa.
A comedy of errors where a kidnapping acts as a means of settling accounts on the part of a woman, with her past. All of the action takes place in a small city in Ontario where Joey, an unemployed girl, assumes a drastic attitude to get money: she kidnaps the daughter of the owner of a self-help clinic. She is assisted by two men but soon cheats on her accomplices and escapes with her victim. Locked in a basement with the child, she develops an unexpected relationship with her victim and reveals to her that she is her real mother. As from then, Joey must convince the child she is telling the truth and defend herself from the rage of her companions betrayed, and from her ex-husband who had sent her away twelve years before. A policeman investigates the crime. He knows that nothing occurred by accident and that all of them have their share of guilt.
