Nasceu em Quebéc, Canadá, em 1967. Dirigiu seu primeiro longa-metragem, "Un 32 août sur Terre", em 1998, seguido por "Redemoinho" (2000), vencedor do Prêmio da Crítica Internacional no Festival de Berlim. Também realizou os curtas "120 Seconds to Get Elected" (2006) e "Next Floor" (2008), que recebeu o prêmio de melhor curta-metragem na Semana da Crítica em Cannes.
