Sinopse
Julien tem 40 anos, mora numa casa que já teve dias melhores e tem pulsões autodestrutivas. Leva uma vida sem objetivos, consertando velhos relógios de todos os tipos e tamanhos. Numa visita a uma cliente, acaba descobrindo um segredo que o leva a chantagear a rica e alegre Madame X. Ela é traficante de antiguidades. A cada encontro para negociar o pagamento, o preço aumenta por causa da resistência dela em pagar, mas Julien não é capaz de imaginar a revanche que Madame X prepara. Ao mesmo tempo, ele tenta reviver seu relacionamento com a bela e sensual Marie, a mulher de seus sonhos, que reencontra alguns anos depois. Mas os dois já não são como antes. Apesar de estar apaixonada por Julien, Marie não consegue retribuir o seu amor. Os dois vão viver juntos e o independente Julien se vê lidando com duas mulheres: consegue controlar a vida de uma e é dominado pela outra.
Julien is 40 years old, living in a house that has seen better days. He suffers from self-destructive impulses. He leads a life with no objective, mending old clocks of different shapes and sizes. On one particular visit to a client, he discovers a secret and proceeds to blackmail rich Madam X. She is a trafficker in antiques. On each visit to negotiate payment, the price is higher because she puts up a resistance to paying. Julien can not imagine the revenge Madam X has in store for him. He concurrently tries to revive an affair with beautiful, sensuous Marie, the woman of his dreams, that he has met again after some years. However, neither are as they were before. Although she is in love with Julien, Marie can not return his love. They move in to live together and independent Julien finds himself dealing with two women: he controls the life of one woman and is controlled by the other.
