Sinopse
John mudou-se para a cidade grande para se tornar um escritor e amante de sucesso. Durante o dia, ele definha em seu trabalho nada desafiador e passa as noites em seu quarto ou na biblioteca. E, nos finais de noite, ele perambula pelos arredores da cidade, ansiando por aventuras que nunca acontecem. Suas tentativas pouco inspiradas de estabelecer algum contato sempre fracassam. Sua fuga é o cinema. Apaixona-se por Monica Vitti e sonha em ser o único homem a apoiar e confortar a musa inescrutável e torturada dos filmes de Antonioni. Um encontro noturno com uma sósia da atriz parece ter sido arranjado pelo destino. Conseguirá ele abrir um espaço para ela em sua existência solitária e egocêntrica?
John has moved to town in order to become a success as a writer and a lover. During the day he languishes in his unchallenging office job. He spends his evenings in his room or at the library. At night he roams the outer skirts of town, no big thrill ever coming his way, his half-hearted attempts at contact predestined to fail. His only escape is the cinema. He falls in love with Monica Vitti and fancies himself to be the sole comfort and support of the unfathomable and tortured muse from Antonioni’s films. A nightly encounter with Monica Vitti’s spitting image seems to be arranged by destiny. Will he allow her into his egocentric and lonely existence?
