O cubano Tomás Gutiérrez Alea, um dos diretores do premiado "Morango e Chocolate", dirige este filme que recebeu o prêmio do júri no 13º Festival de Chicago. Os últimos anos do século 18 foram de revoluções burguesas e marcaram o início das lutas de independência nas colônias portuguesas e espanholas. Cuba, que estava no auge da produção de açúcar, era marcada pela exploração máxima do trabalho escravo. Em meio a isso, na Semana Santa, um conde decide seguir o exemplo de Jesus, convidando 12 escravos para comer em sua mesa. Vencedor do Prêmio do Público da 2ª Mostra.
Cuban Tomás Gutiérrez Alea, one of the directors of the award-winning "Strawberry and Chocolate", directs this film, which received the jury prize at the 13th Chicago Film Festival. The last years of the 18th century saw bourgeois revolutions and marked the beginning of the independence struggles in the Portuguese and Spanish colonies. Cuba, which was at the height of sugar production, was marked by the maximum exploitation of slave labor. Amidst this, during Holy Week, a count decides to follow Jesus` example, inviting 12 slaves to eat at his table. Winner of the Audience Award at the 2nd Mostra.
