Produção que teve início em 1975, como uma contribuição oficial da Mosfilm ao 60º aniversário da Revolução de Outubro de 1917, mas só ficou pronta dois anos depois. A ideia era capturar a atmosfera da época e, literalmente, filmar uma página da história. Com essa finalidade, o diretor Elem Klimov recebeu permissão para consultar os arquivos soviéticos sobre os fatos relativos ao envolvimento do místico Rasputin com a família do czar Nicolau II.
A production that began in 1975 as an official contribution from Mosfilm to the 60th anniversary of the 1917 October Revolution, but was only completed two years later. The idea was to capture the atmosphere of the era and literally film a page of history. To this end, director Elem Klimov received permission to consult the Soviet archives regarding the facts of the mystic Rasputin's involvement with the family of Tsar Nicholas II.
