Sinopse
No coração de Portugal, em meio às montanhas, o mês de agosto é repleto de pessoas e atividades. Emigrantes voltam para casa, soltam fogos de artifício, combatem os fogos, cantam no karaokê, atiram-se das pontes, caçam javalis, bebem cerveja, fazem filhos. Se o diretor e a equipe de filmagem tivessem ido direto ao assunto e resistido às tentações de se juntar às festividades, a sinopse diria apenas que se trata de uma história que acompanha as relações afetivas entre pai, filha e o primo desta, todos músicos numa banda de bailes. Amor e música, portanto.
In the heart of Portugal, amid the mountains, the month of August is abuzz with people and activity. Emigrants return home, set off fireworks, fight fires, sing karaoke, hurl themselves from bridges, hunt wild boar, drink beer, make babies. If the director and film crew had got straight to it and resisted the temptation to join in the festivities the synopsis would come down to a story follows the affective relationship between a father and daughter, and the daughter’ cousin, all musicians in a dance band. So, love and music then.
